Energy - The Green Alternative
From huge offshore windfarms to small individual turbines for the home, wind energy is increasingly being seen as the way forward. Depleted fossil fuel stocks, increasing prices, international volatility and the consequences of nuclear energy and greater green awareness, mean that the public as well as politicians are looking into wind energy as a way of producing cheap electicity.

Will a home wind turbine save me money?
Home wind turbines can be obtained from as little as £500. These cheap models will produce limited quantities with none to spare! There are plenty of wind turbines available for between £500 and £1500 or more. B&Q's fast selling model costs just under £1500. In addition, you will need to pay for planning permission and there may be extra installation costs
How much you will money you could save will depend on a number of factors such as how windy your site is, how much fuel you usually consume, and the output and efficiency of your wind turbine. Don't expect an instant return - it may take about 10 years to recover your initial outlay
Can I get a grant for a wind turbine?
A number of grants may be available, although these are unlikely to cover the whole cost.
